A sulfuric acid method is to be ilmenite powder and concentrated sulfuric acid hydrolysis reactions produce titanium sulfate , metatitanic generated by hydrolysis, and then calcined , crushed that get titanium dioxide products. This method can produce anatase and rutile titanium dioxide . Advantage of sulfuric acid method is able to easily get the lowest ilmenite with sulfuric acid as raw materials, technology is more mature , simple equipment , anti-corrosion material easy to solve . The disadvantage is that long process , only to intermittent operation based, wet operation , sulfuric acid , high water consumption , waste and by-products and more on environmental pollution .
Two . Chlorination is carried rutile or titanium slag powder mixed with coke production at high temperature chlorination of titanium tetrachloride, high temperature oxidation, then filtered , washed , dried and pulverized to obtain titanium dioxide products. Chlorination of rutile titanium dioxide production only . Chlorination advantage is that the process is short, easy to expand production capacity , high degree of automation of the continuous , relatively low energy consumption, "three wastes " less , rutile titanium dioxide can get quality products. The disadvantage is that large investment , equipment complex structure, high requirements for materials , to high temperature, corrosion , difficult to repair equipment , research and development difficult.
