  • From plastic to ink: applications of PE wax

  • 🔬Product Overview

Polyethylene wax (PE WAX) is a low-molecular-weight saturated hydrocarbon polymer produced through ethylene polymerization or polyethylene cracking processes, and it belongs to the category of completely non-polar synthetic waxes. Its core characteristics include:

Physical state: At room temperature, it appears as a white, hard solid (flakes/granules/powder)

    Thermal properties:

Melting point range: 100–120°C (high-density types can reach above 115°C)

Thermal stability: Decomposition temperature > 200°C, no yellowing during high-temperature processing

    Functional advantages:

Ultra-low migration: Crystallinity > 80%, ensuring long-term stability of the product

High-efficiency lubricity: Reduces friction between polymer molecular chains, enhancing melt flowability

Inert compatibility: Does not react with polar systems, suitable for non-polar materials such as polyolefins

    Molecular structure classification:

    High-density type (HDPE-based):

Linear molecular chain structure, crystallinity >85%

High hardness (penetration <0.5 dmm), excellent wear resistance

    Low-density type (LDPE-based):

Contains short side chains, crystallinity 60–75%

Good flexibility, strong low-temperature impact resistance
