The versatility of CPE 135A: modification mechanism and wide application
📝Product Overview
Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE 135A) is a random polymer material produced through a chlorination reaction of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It appears as a white powder and is non-toxic and odorless.
As an efficient impact modifier and toughening agent for PVC, CPE 135A significantly enhances the impact strength, toughness, low-temperature flexibility, and processing flowability of PVC products, while also offering excellent weather resistance, chemical resistance, flame retardancy, and ozone resistance.
It is widely used in the modification of rigid and semi-rigid PVC products, as well as other plastic and rubber products, making it a cost-effective thermoplastic elastomer.

⏩CPE 135A, as a PVC impact modifier and toughening agent, operates through the following mechanisms:
Compatibility and dispersion: CPE 135A possesses both polar and non-polar segments, enabling compatibility with PVC via van der Waals forces and dipole interactions. It forms a microphase-separated elastic dispersed phase (0.1–1 μm) within the matrix, absorbing impact energy and inhibiting crack propagation.
Toughening Mechanism: Induces silver streaks and shear bands to disperse external forces, enhancing PVC impact strength and low-temperature flexibility (remains flexible at -20°C).
Processing Performance: Reduces PVC melt viscosity, improves flowability and surface quality, supports high filler loading, and lowers costs.
Weatherability and Flame Retardancy: The chlorinated structure provides excellent weatherability, chemical resistance, and flame retardancy, slowing aging and enhancing flame resistance.
Multi-Material Compatibility: Enhances toughness through microphase separation in systems such as ABS, PP, and rubber, improves interfacial compatibility, and enhances composite material performance.
📦 Packaging and Storage
Standard Packaging:
Polypropylene (PP) woven bags are used, with standard packaging of 25 kg per bag.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and high temperatures (recommended storage temperature <40°C).
Storage Period: Shelf life is two years. After expiration, the product may continue to be used if it passes performance testing.
Transportation Precautions: Keep clean during transportation and handling, protect from sun exposure and rain, and prevent damage to the packaging.
