  • Chlorinated Polyethylene CPE 135A (Impact Modifier) Product Overview

    📝 Product Overview

Chlorinated Polyethylene CPE 135A is a saturated polymer impact modifier produced by the controlled chlorination of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). With the CAS number 64754-90-1 and a chlorine content of 33–37%, it appears as a white powder with excellent compatibility with PVC resin.

CPE 135A functions as a high-efficiency impact modifier for rigid PVC products. Its elastomeric chlorinated PE chains form a dispersed rubbery phase within the PVC matrix, absorbing impact energy and preventing crack propagation — dramatically improving low-temperature impact resistance without compromising tensile strength or heat deflection temperature. It also contributes weather resistance, flame retardancy, and electrical insulation, making it the essential additive for outdoor and structural PVC applications.

    🚀 Application Areas

CPE 135A's rubber-like elastomeric phase and PVC compatibility make it the dominant impact modifier for rigid PVC — converting a brittle polymer into a ductile, weather-resistant engineering material.

    1. uPVC Window Profiles & Door Frames

CPE 135A is the industry-standard impact modifier for uPVC window and door profiles. At 6–10 phr dosage, it transforms brittle uPVC into a tough, weather-resistant material capable of withstanding decades of UV exposure, temperature cycling, and mechanical impact. Its chlorine content ensures excellent compatibility with the PVC matrix — no delamination, no exudation — for consistent product quality across extrusion runs.

    2. Rigid PVC Pipes & Fittings

In pressure and non-pressure PVC pipes, CPE 135A improves impact resistance — particularly at low temperatures where unmodified rigid PVC becomes brittle. This is critical for water supply and drainage pipes installed in cold climates, where impact from backfill and ground movement would otherwise cause catastrophic cracking.

    3. PVC Siding, Fencing & Decking

For exterior PVC siding, fence profiles, and deck boards, CPE 135A provides the weatherability and impact strength required for long-term outdoor exposure. Combined with TiO₂ UV protection, it prevents chalking, cracking, and color fade over decades of service.

    4. PVC Sheets & Panels

In rigid PVC sheets for construction formwork, signage, and industrial panels, CPE 135A delivers the balance of stiffness and toughness needed for structural applications — improving nail-holding and screw-retention strength.

    5. Wire & Cable Compounds

CPE 135A serves dual functions in PVC cable compounds: impact modifier for flexibility and flame-retardant synergist due to its chlorine content. It is widely used in building wire sheathing, automotive cables, and industrial cable jackets.
