Optical Brightener KCB Details and Applications
📝Product Overview
Optical Brightener KCB (also known as Fluorescent Brightener KCB or FBA 367) is a highly effective fluorescent brightener with the chemical name 4,4'-Bis(benzoxazol-2-yl)naphthalene and CAS numbers 5089-22-5 or 63310-10-1.
It appears as a bright yellow-green powder, non-toxic, odorless, and insoluble in water. It exhibits exceptional whitening effects and a vivid blue-light hue. This product demonstrates outstanding light and heat resistance, does not react with chemicals such as foaming agents or crosslinking agents, and shows no bleeding or extraction. Its maximum absorption wavelength is 370 nm.
KCB finds extensive application in plastics and synthetic fibers, significantly enhancing product whiteness and color vibrancy. It serves as the preferred whitening additive for materials like polyolefins and PVC.

🚀Application Areas
Optical Brightener KCB is primarily used for whitening synthetic fibers and plastic products, particularly suitable for EVA foam materials (such as footwear components and foam boards), significantly enhancing the vibrancy of colored plastics. Specific applications include:
1️⃣Plastics:
Polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and other plastics in films, injection molding materials, laminates, and molded products.
2️⃣Synthetic Fibers:
Brightening of polyester fibers, as well as enhancing the vibrancy of dyes and natural pigments.
3️⃣Other Applications:
EVA foam, rubber products, TPR, PU foam, coatings, and paints. Recommended dosage: 0.01%-0.05% (depending on substrate). Thorough mixing is required during use to ensure uniform results. Dosage should be adjusted accordingly if UV absorbers are added.
