  • The uses and effects of aluminium stearate

  • Product Overview

Magnesium stearate is a metal soap compound produced by the reaction of stearic acid and magnesium salt, with the chemical formula of Mg(C₁₈H₃₅O₂)₂ or C36H70MgO4, which is white light powder, odourless and tasteless, with slippery handfeel, and excellent hydrophobicity, lubrication and thermal stability. It is insoluble in water, ethanol and grease at room temperature, but soluble in hot organic solvents (e.g. benzene, toluene), and decomposed into stearic acid and magnesium salt when met with acid.

Coatings and printing ink: Used as thickener and smoothing agent to improve the thixotropy of coating film.

Building materials: Waterproofing additives, enhance the weather resistance of materials.

    Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics

Pharmaceutical intermediates: Pharmaceutical grade products meet production specifications and are used for tablet lubrication or coating materials.

Cosmetics: Used as thickeners and touch modifiers to enhance the texture of cream-based products.

    Other fields

Metal rust prevention: Raw material for rust preventive agents to extend the life of metal parts .

Lubricants: Thickening agent to improve high temperature stability

  • Packing and Storage

Standard package: 25kg/bag (woven bag or latex bag lined with plastic bag).

Customised specification: Support 1kg, 5kg, 10kg and other small packages, to adapt to R & D or small batch requirements.

Storage suggestions: Need to avoid light, moisture, away from acidic substances, long-term storage is recommended to low-temperature dry environment.

  • Safety and Compliance

    Safety Data:

No significant skin irritation, but dust inhalation or contact with mucous membranes should be avoided.

Decomposes in contact with strong acids, protective equipment is required when handling.

    Compliance Certification:

Meets pharmaceutical grade standards (e.g. GMP), COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (Chemical Safety Data Sheet) available.

Meet REACH, EINECS (230-325-5) and other international chemical management requirements.

  • Certifications & Support

    Quality Assurance:

ISO 17025 laboratory testing to ensure batch consistency.

Some suppliers (e.g. Prudential Industries) offer customisation to support pharmaceutical grade high purity requirements.

    Technical Support:

Provides application guidance, including formulation optimisation and process adaptation.

Can assist with export compliance documentation (e.g., FDA or UL related certifications, depending on specific applications).
